Most of the articles the have been written focus of the health benefits as it relates to illness, but today an article from the Washington Post points out the other benefits to the red wine extract known as resveratrol. One of the studies conducted that the extract showed that it increased the durance of athletes and non aathletes alike. The cause of this endurance benefit was attributed to the mitochondrial activity increase productivity, more so than they had before. Researchers observed this breakthrough in the test subjects and believe it could translate well into the human processes just as well. A head scientist in the study stated that the amount of red wine needed to consume the appropriate level of resveratrol is not yet attainable and is not an instant fix, but the benefits thus far are clearly evident and it will take some time to see what it will do in humans.
